SUMMARY:WMoF Celebrity Series: Did an Affair cause France's Biggest Air Disaster?
DESCRIPTION:One of the reasons plane crashes are of big interest is twofold: 1. It is a way to wipe out a couple hundred people and 2). Planes are so big that it is unimaginable that we can’t find one quickly (took 48 hours to find this plane).

Both of these points are the reasons Air Frances’s 447 flight in 2009 holds a place in history. It is the largest plane crash in Frances’ history. The loss: 228 passengers, crew and pilots. The cause: That’s where the picture gets a little fuzzy. Was it the mistress? The captain was having a fling with a company stewardess and only got 60 minutes sleep before stepping into the cockpit of 447. Lack of training on these new twin-engine wide bodies that are defined as “Frances future”? Was there an equipment failure?

Come hear retired test pilot, Robert A. Johnson, Commander, USN (ret.), take us through the entire accident, and unfold the tragic story. It should prove to be a gripping and instructive hour.
