SUMMARY:WMoF Celebrity Series: A Rain of Fighter Planes
DESCRIPTION:Alabama University professor of archaeology Sarah Parcak once said, “Archaeology holds all the keys to understanding who we are and where we come from”. Well this month’s WMoF Celebrity Series focuses on just that with his “A Rain of Fighter Planes: The P-40 Tomahawks of the 57th Pursuit Group.” Who better the noted author and speaker G. Pat Macha. When you say hands-on, he has been there with his group of aircraft archaeologists. Aside from true archaeological digs, i. e., hands on, Macha has written three books, hosted two videos, two DVDs and is a renown speaker on the subject. Come hear his take in the exigencies of WWII, commanders found it necessary to take risks with their aircraft and with their pilots they would never take during peace time but they had to be prepared immediately to go into combat. Please join us to learn what is known about the airmen that went missing during this era as told to Mr. Macha by some of those who survived it. As a bonus, the WMoF celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the T-38 Talon with celebratory cake, the T-38 on display with a walk around Q & A with Talon experts Ron Gibb and Roy Martin. As always, free parking and free to WMoF members. Guests are $10.
