DESCRIPTION:<p>Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko – Los Angeles presents <b>RYUKYUKOKU MATSURI DAIKO LOS ANGELES 25<sup>TH</sup> ANNIVERSARY SHOW GAJUMARU – SHIHANSEIKI NO SASAE </b>in the James Armstrong Theatre, 3330 Civic Center Drive.</p><p>Tickets are $25/$20.&nbsp; For tickets and information email Kyosuke Rocky Kataoka at <a href="mailto:&#114;&#117;&#109;&#100;&#46;&#108;&#111;&#115;&#97;&#110;&#103;&#101;&#108;&#101;&#115;&#64;&#103;&#109;&#97;&#105;&#108;&#46;&#111;&#114;&#103;">rumd.losangeles@gmail.org</a> or access <a href="http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4332124">www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4332124</a> or <a href="http://www.rmdlosangeles.org/25th/">www.rmdlosangeles.org/25th/</a>. </p><p>As the art of taiko drumming continues to gain popularity throughout the world, the art of <i>eisa</i>, or Okinawan festival drumming, has also gained popularity.&nbsp; Through there are many <i>eisa</i> groups in existence, Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko is perhaps one of the most internationally recognized for its fusion of <i>odori </i>(traditional dance) and karate movements.&nbsp; Performers dance and drum simultaneously to an exciting blend of traditional contemporary Okinawan and Japanese music.</p><p>We decided to title our 25<sup>th</sup> Anniversary show, Gajumaru – Shinhanseiki No Sasae because the gajumaru tree, also known as the banyan tree is a tree in Okinawa that is known for its strong support given from its roots and branches, as well as for its long lifespan.&nbsp; We want to show the appreciation for the support our branch has received for the past 25 years from our community and the hope that our group continues for many more years to come through the art of eisa.</p>
