SUMMARY:Torrance Open House: Metro C-Line Extension
DESCRIPTION:<div ltr="" scxw148278065="" bcx9"=""><p scxw148278065="" bcx9"="" paraid="2079981854" paraeid="{d91ac2e8-b021-4ae5-a882-7493976f5ba0}{167}">L.A. Metro has plans to connect more of the South Bay by extending the C-Line (Green) from Redondo Beach (Marine) Station to the new Mary K. Giordano Regional Transit Center in the City of Torrance. According to L.A. Metro, this project would bring light rail to the South Bay to provide alternatives to traffic along the I-405 Freeway corridor, with connections to the A (Blue) and E (Expo) Lines. Trains from both the Metro C-Line (Green) and the future Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project would run on this new extension and connect riders to two new Metro stations (one in Redondo Beach and one in Torrance).

<div ltr="" scxw148278065="" bcx9"=""><p scxw148278065="" bcx9"="" paraid="545960247" paraeid="{d91ac2e8-b021-4ae5-a882-7493976f5ba0}{173}">There are two alignments that L.A. Metro is considering. The first alignment is the Metro Railroad Right-of-Way (ROW) Alignment where the train would utilize the existing railroad right of way to connect with the Mary K. Giordano Transit Center. This alignment is fully funded and is part of LA Metro’s top priority for projects to be completed by 2028 Olympics.

<div ltr="" scxw148278065="" bcx9"=""><p scxw148278065="" bcx9"="" paraid="1561265232" paraeid="{d91ac2e8-b021-4ae5-a882-7493976f5ba0}{185}">The second alignment that L.A. Metro is considering is an elevated train along Hawthorne Boulevard down to 190th Street before entering the railroad right of way. The second alignment will create significant impact to businesses and residents of the City of Torrance near Hawthorne Boulevard. This alignment is not fully funded and would further delay the project past year 2030.
<p scxw148278065="" bcx9"="" paraid="1561265232" paraeid="{d91ac2e8-b021-4ae5-a882-7493976f5ba0}{185}">
