WMoF Celebrity Series: Blackbird, Eyes in the night

Spy v. spy, USA v. Russia. On May 1st, 1960 most Americans’ view became focused on the Cold War. Gary Powers in his U2 plane was shot down by Soviet forces while spying. The United States needed another plan. The SR-71 Blackbird became that plan. With imaginative features that seemed to defy the laws of physics, this technological marvel did its job, and did it extremely well. WMoF’s Celebrity Series brings a Blackbird pilot with that knowledge. John J.“Jack” Veth, a SR-71 pilot, will tell all the behind the scenes successes and failures of the Blackbird. He’ll tell us about this somewhat little known spy plane. Parking is free in museum lots. Cost of Admission is $10 & as always, WMoF Museum Members are free.
