As with most great ideas, it follows that invention is the result of need. Realizing the limitations of fixed wing aircraft the inventors of helicopters needed a flying machine that could take off vertically, hover, fly forwards, backwards and laterally, as well as to land vertically. Thus the pioneers – Sikorsky, Piaseki, Kaman, Hiller, Young and yes our own Frank Robinson – developed the rotary wing helicopter that could do all the things needed. Come join us to hear WMoF Celebrity Series keynote speaker Lt. Commander (retired) Chip Lancaster. Chip is a former naval aviator and instructor who pursued a career in the special area of rotary wing. He’ll explore the various varieties of helicopters … not just those news & traffic ones over your house. As always, our Series is open to the public. WMoF members are free and guests are $10 with free parking for all.
